Patient Care Technicians are employed to offer nursing assistance and perform other skilled functions in a hospital under a registered nurse. The job requires one to perform multiple duties from different departments like blood collection, EKG, phlebotomy, nursing, respiratory, etc.

Job Summary:
A patient care technician works closely with nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff to ensure the safety, health, and ultimate care of the patients assigned to him or her. The patient care technician will also access the emotional, physical, and personal needs of the patient and provide care accordingly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer direct feeding
- Administer basic personal hygiene
- Bathe and dress patient
- Assist patients with toileting needs
- Changing of catheter bags, bed pans, and other personal care items
- Assistant in patient mobility and transportation in and out of wheelchairs, beds, and
- bathtubs
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
- Change beddings and soiled laundry
- Cleaning and organize patient rooms

- Relay information to head nurse or physician

Position Requirements:
- Ability to interact with ill patients and their families
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Have an understanding of patient rights and needs
- High school diploma and at least two-year college degree
- Two year experience in hospital, hospice, or nursing home setting
- Experienced preferred in transportation services and direct care services
- Demonstrate the ability to meet the immediate needs the ill and their families
- State issued operator’s driver’s license required
Physical Demands:
- Lifting and moving patients and medical equipment up to 50 pounds
- Long hours of constant standing
