Job Summary:

The Transportation Manager is responsible for the management of all freight of product ensuring that product is received and trucks are ready to deliver/​ship product according to schedule and abiding by shipping regulations.​

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep current with factory production and holiday schedule
  • Assist Account Coordinators and Sales Specialists with lead time questions and import schedules
  • Organize regular shipments and identify cost effective shipping methods
  • Review incoming container rates and source freight forwarders
  • Review and approve freight bills
  • Resolve any problems such as damage, receipt of incorrect product, short ships, etc.​, with receiving warehouse, factory Account Coordinator
  • Review inspection report/​communicate to Account Coordinators
  • Coordinate delivery of shipment
  • Monitor arrival/​clearance of shipments and notify Account Coordinator
  • Track shipments, obtain shipping documents and maintain Container Tracking Reports
  • Confirm shipments with factory and provide instructions to freight forwarder
  • Analyze shipping method (ready orders vs.​ container space) and destination
  • Identify lead time problems when O/​C received
  • Determine freight costs and give information to Account Coordinators
  • Identify cost-saving transportation opportunities

Position Requirements:

  • ​A.​ degree preferred
  • This is not a warehouse management position.​ You must have transportation/​trafficking/​logistics experience to qualify
  • Ability to read complex documents
  • The ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems related to shipping and delivery of products
  • At least 5 years transportation/​logistics/​trafficking experience
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn Accounting software
  • Effective communicate with various departments and provide needed information in timely manner
  • Experience analyzing and presenting information to top management
  • Ability to negotiate pricing with vendors
  • Work Hours: 40+​ hours are may be required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree
