Job Summary:

The Steam Mechanical Field Engineer will perform technical service for safe and successful installation; maintenance including repair and rebuild, and / or modification retrofits on steam turbine and generator equipment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate schedule details, project milestones, manpower requirements, quality issues, and tools / equipment requirements to the appropriate GE individuals
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for on-site work and lead resolving engineering and product issues
  • Provide, audit, and implement quality control requirements for on-site repair and modification work in compliance with 4:Engineering and Product Department standards
  • Provide both external and internal timely, accurate, professional reports
  • Provide technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements and quality standards of the sold product
  • Liaise effectively with customers in job planning, execution, follow-up and sales support
  • Prepare and execute job-planning documents that define in detail the operations to be performed through engineering procedures, drawings, schedules, and process instructions

Position Requirements:

  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work and meet deadlines
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, ability to read and write English
  • Prior mechanical / maintenance experience preferred
  • Electro hydraulic controls experience on power generation equipment
  • Project management capabilities
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in both old and new technologies used in worldwide fleet
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Salary: $12.00 – $14.00 Hourly DOE
